Soccer Star Opens Up About Losing Wife to Breast Cancer

England international soccer star Rio Ferdinand has spoken out about the emotional pain of losing his wife Rebecca to breast cancer.

Families share their experiences with breast cancer in this emotional video.

According to the Daily Mail, the former Manchester United defender participated in a documentary titled Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum and Dad where he talks about how difficult life has been since Rebecca passed away in May 2015 at just 34 years old.

The couple has three children and the documentary looks at how Ferdinand has had to cope not only with losing his wife, but also dealing with the grief of his children and having to adjust to the change in the family’s dynamics.

Ferdinand admits that he hasn’t really had time to properly grieve since Rebecca’s death, as he has been too focused on being there for his children.

The documentary is set to air in the spring on U.K. television and also features other men who have lost their wives and are bringing up their children alone.

Debunk four common myths about breast cancer and find out what doesn’t cause cancer.
