Paulette Leaphart is a breast cancer warrior who has no shame of her breast cancer scars. After having a double mastectomy in 2014, Paulette was told that she was not a candidate for breast reconstruction, so she had to learn to embrace her scars. “Scars let us know that, yes, I had cancer, and I kicked its a**”, says the cancer survivor. Being such an inspiring person, Paulette has reached people all over the world with her story and her strength, including Beyoncé. The huge pop star has just released her new visual album “Lemonade” and asked Paulette to be a part of it, as a role model inspiring women to love their bodies.
POPSUGAR Entertainment shared this video where you find Paulette raising awareness for breast cancer and making people aware that having scars is OK. She accomplished this by walking 1,000 miles from Mississipi to Washington DC – completely topless and proudly showing her scars. Together with filmmaker Emily Mackenzie, who is capturing Paulette’s 3-month adventure, they’re directing an upcoming documentary about her story, called “Scars Story”.
