3D Nipple Tattoos: Coping with Breast Cancer After a Mastectomy

Emily is a breast cancer patient who has survived a tough journey to treat her disease. After a complicated double mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery, she decided to have tattoos for her new nipples.

Women often have their breasts removed as a result of breast cancer treatment. Emily did that and then opted to have her right breast reconstructed. However, she lost her nipples because of the mastectomy. That’s why she decided to have new nipples tattooed onto her.

This video from Penn Medicine talks about reconstruction after a mastectomy, by way of a 3D nipple tattoo (called micro pigmentation) which re-colors the specified area to look more realistic.
